Before you plan your visit, you must check the timings. The garden opens every day at 07:30 AM. However, the closing timings may vary depending on the season.

SF Botanical Garden Free Day

Entry to SF Botanical Garden is free on the following days:

  • Second Tuesday of every month
  • On the occasion of Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Thanksgiving
  • Free for San Francisco residents and county residents (Will have to show proof of residence)
  • Free daily for visit between 07:30 AM to 09:00 AM

Monday, Wednesday, Friday – The tour leaves the main gate at 1:30 pm

Saturday – Two tours at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm

There is no pre-registration required for any of the tours. You will find a sign that says “Free Public Tour” near the main gate. Follow that and you will see the rest of the instructions. However, you must note that the tours are subject to the availability of the staff.
